Terms of Service
Last updated: July 7, 2026
Shiny Melon is a free learning site. Use it for personal or classroom learning, be kind and don't abuse it, and remember that worksheets are for teaching — not for reselling. Accounts are for parents, guardians, and teachers to set up and supervise. The virtual buddy and coins are just for fun — they have no cash value.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Shiny Melon, operated by [Legal entity name — required]("we", "us"). They govern your use of shinymelon.com and everything we offer there — the worksheets, learning games, and buddy rewards (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. The Service
Shiny Melon provides free, printable worksheets and browser-based learning games for children in Preschool through 6th grade. Most of the Service can be used without an account. We provide the Service "as is" and may add, change, or remove features at any time.
2. Who can use Shiny Melon
The Service is intended for children learning under the supervision of an adult. Accounts are intended to be created and managed by a parent, legal guardian, or teacher who is at least 18 years old and agrees to these Terms on behalf of themselves and any child they supervise. If you are a child, please ask a parent, guardian, or teacher to set up and oversee your use.
3. Accounts and security
You don't need an account to browse, print, or play. If you create one, you're responsible for keeping the login details secure and for activity that happens under the account. Let us know at hello@shinymelon.com if you believe an account has been used without permission. You can delete an account at any time from account settings.
4. Acceptable use
When using Shiny Melon, please don't:
- break the law or use the Service to harm, harass, or mislead others;
- try to access accounts, data, or systems you're not authorized to use;
- scrape, copy in bulk, reverse-engineer, overload, or interfere with the Service;
- resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Service or its content (see below); or
- enter offensive, infringing, or personal information into fields like a buddy's nickname.
We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being misused.
5. Worksheets, content, and your license to use them
The Service and its content — worksheets, games, text, graphics, characters, and software — are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to view, download, and print worksheets for personal, family, and non-commercial classroom use. You may print copies for the students in your own classroom. You may not sell, sublicense, or redistribute the worksheets, or use them to build a competing product. "Shiny Melon" and our logos are our trademarks.
6. The virtual buddy and coins
The Service includes a virtual pet ("buddy") and in-app coins earned by playing games and completing worksheets. Coins, the buddy, and any virtual items are provided for entertainment and learning motivation only. They have no monetary value, cannot be bought with or exchanged for real money, and cannot be transferred or sold. We may adjust, reset, or discontinue the buddy system or coin balances at any time, for example to fix errors or abuse.
7. Anything you enter
If you enter content into the Service (such as a saved worksheet or a buddy nickname), you keep any rights you have in it and grant us a limited license to store and display it so we can operate the Service for you. Don't enter anything you don't have the right to use, and keep nicknames free of personal information.
8. Classroom and school use
Teachers may use the free Service with their classes under these Terms. If your school or district needs a data-processing or student-data agreement (for example under FERPA or a state student-privacy law), contact us at hello@shinymelon.com so we can address it separately. [Confirm your position on formal school/student-data agreements with counsel.]
9. Third-party links and services
The Service relies on third-party providers (such as our sign-in and hosting providers) and may link to other sites we don't control. We're not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Shiny Melon is a learning aid and is not a substitute for a complete curriculum or professional educational advice. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content will be accurate for every learner.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to [e.g. USD $100]. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Indemnity
You agree to reasonably indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
13. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify account holders. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or end the Service, or a particular account, if these Terms are violated or as needed to operate responsibly. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [state / country — e.g. the State of ____, USA], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. [Your lawyer may add a dispute-resolution or arbitration clause here; we have intentionally left this out for you to decide.]
